F.A.Q.

How can a Canadian Certified Pedorthist Help?

The majority of people of all ages can benefit from custom made orthotics. Some of the common symptoms that can be improved with custom made orthotics are:

  • Flat feet
  • Foot pain
  • Ankle pain
  • Bunions
  • Hammer Toe
  • Knee pain
  • Back pain
  • Hip pain

If you are looking to submit a claim to your extended health care benefits for custom-made orthotics, you will need a prescription from your family physician or nurse. Most extended health benefits require a prescription to be submitted along with your biomechanical and proof of payment for you to receive your benefits.

We will provide you with all necessary documentation to submit to your extended health benefits.

During your initial assessment, George W.M. O’Mahony C.Ped (C) will determine if orthotic therapy is right for you. He will use a 3-D casting technique to take an impression of your feet. Custom made orthotics take between 7-10 days to be manufactured.

Once your orthotics are ready to be fitted, you will be contacted to schedule an appointment. At that appointment, your custom made orthotics will be fitted to you. Any adjustments needed will be made on site.

After a 2-week break-in period, if needed, additional adjustments will be made on-site. We then recommend returning once every 4-months for adjustments.

There is no fee for adjustments on orthotics that were fitted less than 2-years ago.

If your custom orthotics cause you any pain or discomfort, we ask you to stop wearing your orthotics and call the office to arrange a Corigan virtual appointment or an in-office adjustment.
